Ilog Pasig

"I only went out for a walk and finally concluded to stay out till sundown,
for going out, I found what was really going on"
-John Muir
The view of "Ilog (River) Pasig" inside Fort Santiago, Intramuros

A river known for it's greatness and an important transport route during the Spanish Era in the Philippines is nothing but a dead river. All the pronounced character it showcased during it's golden times were mere remnants of the past. Thanks to the industrial development and negligence of the people it served.

It's so sad sis. Dito kasi they make the most of their rivers, they use it for tourism which is not just romantic but also a great way to see the beauty of the place. I hope with all the rehab that one they they'll be able to revive Pasig river...

  2. I still remember crossing Pasig River by a boat. I live in Mandaluyong and my work before was at Makati Ave. The smell is so bad, pero kailangan kong tiisin para lang makaiwas sa traffic at hindi ma-late. I guess the series of attempt to save the river will not work as long as there are industrial waste dumping on it everday.

  4. Taga Mandaluyong ka pala. Naranasan ko na rin tumawid ng Pasig River through boat galing ng Sta Ana. Grabe talaga ang amoy pero sabi mo nga para makaiwas sa traffic that is the fastest way. Diba ang saya at sarap sana sa feeling kung malinis pa siya hanggang ngayon. Sayang talaga. Matagal na rin ang mga projects which are trying to restore the river but to no avail talaga dahil sa mga walang pakundangan mag-tapon ng basura.

  5. Oo nga sis, labis ang panghihinayang ko kapag nakikita ko ang mga ilog sa ibang bansa. Sayang talaga ang ilog Pasig. I hope meron pa talagang pag-asa.

  7. Hi Sey, have you tried taking a ferry ride along Pasig River? Kung hindi pa, it's a must try, especially kung ma-kumpleto mo ang ruta from Binondo to Pasig. You'll learn a lot from the trip, kahit walang tour guide hehehe. Don't worry about the smell, talagang ganun lang kung minsan. But if you really can't stand it, you can just stay inside the ferry. Walang smell, airconditioned pa. Try mo minsan, and don't forget to bring your camera ;)
